RH Training Services is supporting the NHS with the West Midlands and the nations awareness of the symptoms of Sepsis by covering the subject within our paediatric First Aid courses and parent First Aid courses (Little Life Savers).
Sepsis is a serious complication of an infection and requires urgent medical attention. However we as First Aiders need to know how to recognise the symptoms quickly in order to save lives.
Symptoms in babies and children under 5
1. Looks mottled, bluish and pale
2. Lethargic and difficult to wake up
3. very cold to touch
4. Breathing is very fast
5. A rash that doesn’t fade if pressed
6. Fits or convulsions
any of these symptoms your initial actions should be to call 999 and seek ugent medical attention.
